Heritage Weanlings For Sale
Franne had some time to do a little research and found some interesting statistics. In 2009 there were 4,525 foals registered by TWHBEA, down by over half from the numbers they were getting 4-5 years ago. Of course, there may be a few late December colts still to be sent in, but generally, this would be the time to start on early 2010 babies.
Do you know what this indicates? While the overall numbers are down, the number of Heritage foals has stayed the same or maybe increased. So now, the Heritage Horses are a much larger percentage of the breed than they were when we started out as a group in 2003.

NFF Society's Hawkeye Taylor - above photos taken August 28
This fancy, lit up colt is a NICE one! Hawkeye was born May 18, 2011 and is less than a week old in these photos. His dam is Krispy Cream, sire is Society's Duke Allen. Kris is 15 hands, Duke is 15.2 hands so he'll be a good sized horse when he's grown. As he follows his dam in the pasture, he shows a long stride, deep head nod. The added bonus is the chrome this guy sports - big blaze and 4 white socks. He's sure to be an eye catcher on the trails!! Hawkeye will be a tall horse - he has long cannon bones to grow into. I measured his front legs from mid knee to the hair line above the hoof and if it's a true indicator of how tall he'll get, he will mature at 16.3 hands!!! This is definitely a man's horse! Hawkeye is priced at $1500 at weaning, the price includes gelding him if the buyer wishes, and USDA health papers if he goes to a buyer in Canada. Contact Diane at northern_foundations@yahoo.com for more information.

Photos below were taken August 30 with my helper, Hailey Myren. Hailey was awesome working with the foals this summer! Here's Hawkeye loaded (he jumped in so fast I didn't have time to shoot a photo of him getting in the trailer!), leading and backing out of the trailer.

All Northern Foundations babies are taught to lead, load in the trailer, have their feet picked up and trimmed, they will be healthy, wormed, have their vaccinations done and they will have some obstacle course experience. Check out www.northernfoundationsfarm.com for photos and updates of these guys as summer passes.
Heritage Outcross Weanlings For Sale
Before the formation of the Tennessee Walking Horse Heritage Society in 2003, and its subsequent definition of what marks a Heritage Walking Horse in our Society, all of the Heritage breeders had crossed some of their mares with stallions that were popular in their respective areas of Tennessee, or in some cases, within the larger breed group. Although none of the stud colts were retained for breeding purposes, a number of the mares proved to be excellent producers of quality pleasure stock, and are still used within the broodmare bands of the farms where they were foaled. Since the foals of these mares can never be established as Heritage Walking Horses due to their modern bloodlines, their offspring are being offered on this page as Heritage Outcrosses. These foals and mature horses are blessed with the nice walking gaits and gentle dispositions of their Heritage parent, but their bloodlines are not as unique, as they are found more readily throughout the Tennessee Walking Horse breed.
